A level Business Studies course: The course has been designed to provide students with an understanding of the following: how businesses work; how the world around them affects decision-making within a business; what leads to change and how businesses respond to these issues; and the range of perspectives that can be taken on business activities. It also helps develop a range of important and transferable skills: data skills; presenting arguments and making recommendations on the basis of the available evidence; and problem solving. Business studies is a contemporary and “real world” subject. Business studies students can benefit greatly from drawing on experience of employment, experience as consumers and what they see in the media.

On completion of our A Level Business Studies course, students will have:

Developed a wide range of important problem-solving and decision-making business skills.
Explored many of the legal and financial aspects of starting and developing a business.
Developed an understanding of the internal business structures of various organisational types and the ability to co-ordinate efficient functioning in the contemporary and modern business world.

Corporate Aims and Objectives
This section considers what the organisation is attempting to achieve, and how this helps to determine its strategies.

Assessing changes to the Business Environment
This section examines the relationships between organisations and their external environment.

Relationship between business and the:
economic environment
political and legal environment
social environment
technological environment
Competitive environment.

Change Management
Organisations operate in a changing environment and change creates opportunities and threats.

Internal causes of change, planning for change, Key influences on the change process: leadership, Key influences on the change process: culture, Making strategic decisions, Implementing and managing change.

Students are recommended to posses the ability to read and write english to GCSE standards, Mathematics knowledge also to GCSE level and be over 16 years of age.

AQA A Level Business Studies


 

All students have 18 months to complete this course from date of registration. On average this course is completed in 200 hours.

We recommend that students complete 5-6hours per week as a minimum to get the most from this course. Remember to work out a study plan / timetable before you start and try and stick to it. Coursework can be completed as quickly as you want as shown below.

The contract for sitting exams is between you and the centre and we will provide you with comprehensive instructions on when and how to deal with the examination centre. From 2014 exams will be taken in June of each year. 2013 provides the final opportunity to take exams in January. There is no flexibilty to take exams at any other time. Students would normally receive course materials within 7 days of enrolment.

Yes! This course prepares students for the AQA A Level examinations. 

Q: Is there any funding available towards the course fees?

UK Open College is a privately run college therefore we do not have access to funding

Q: Do you offer any discounts for the unemployed or low income households?

Unfortunately discounts are not available

Q: Can I pay monthly for my course?

Yes! We do offer payment plans for this course to students resident in the UK only.  See fees page for further details.

Q: How do I know whether this is the right course for me?

In truth we cannot be sure if this course or indeed home learning will meet every students needs. To help we have a money back guarantee scheme in place which allows students to receive and try the course materials for seven days to establish whether this course is the ideal course for them. If it's not simply notify us via email or telephone within the seven day period for a full refund. No problem! All students have access to a personal tutor for the duration of their course with whom they may correspond with. You are not on your own when you study with us! We really do want you to pass your course!

Q: Will I have to purchase any additional books or materials?

It will state clearly in the course detail if additional books are required. These are not included in the course fees. Students are required to ourchase these independantly. They are not provided by the college.
