The course can be completed entirley from home at your own pace. All materials are provided as is full unlimited support via telephone and email. After learning the basics about the nail industry, your tools, and products, we show you how to choose, fit and blend an appropriate nail extension tip. Then you'll learn how to produce the perfect mix of Acrylic liquid and powder and how to apply it to the different areas of the nail. Shaping the Acrylic to a perfect profile and finish is a critical step and covered in minute detail on a single finger and then again on the various nail shapes and sizes on the whole hand. At the end of the course you'll be able to service your first client and charge your first fee!
Part 1: Foundation You'll learn about life in a nail salon and you will understand the issues involved with sanitation, salon procedures, nail diseases, different nail systems, tools, chemicals and products. There are no previous skills or qualifications required to register for this study programme.

Students are required to watch each lesson and the copy exactly what you see using the equipment supplied within your Nail kit. You practice everyting on the Practice hand pictured below. All the designs you create are done on removable nails and returned to us for assessment and certification. Students are provided with highly detailed film footage explaining the process close up.

Materials for this course are posted out via courier and require a signature Q: Is this course accredited? Yes! This course is accredited by HABIA and The Guild of Beauty therpists. Q: Is there any funding available towards the course fees? UK Open College is a privately run college therefore we do not have access to funding Q: Do you offer any discounts for the unemployed or low income households? Unfortunately discounts are not available Q: Can I pay monthly for my course? Yes! We do offer payment plans for this course to students resident in the UK only. See fees page for further details. Q: How do I know whether this is the right course for me? In truth we cannot be sure if this course or indeed home learning will meet every students needs. Q: What if I have questions relating to my course or have problems understanding some of the questions? No problem! All students have access to a personal tutor for the duration of their course with whom they may correspond with. You are not on your own when you study with us! We really do want you to pass your course! Q: Will I have to purchase any additional books or materials? No! We provide all the required course materials to enable you to complete your studies. You may need to purchase additional nail tips if you want to practice a lot as you progress but we do provide enough to complete the course.
