Health and Safety Onilne e-learning the UK Open College health and safety training course is an in depth and accessible guide to the responsibilities of employers and employees at work. This course is for everyone in the workplace.

The course is broken down into an introduction, eight modules and an assessment. The course covers all the basic principles that everyone in the workplace needs to know: slips trips and falls, manual handling, risk assessment, spotting hazards, preventing accidents.

We use audio visual, interactive animation to deliver our courses in an enjoyable and refreshing format.

The Health & Safety Executive advise that there is a legal obligation to provide information and training on health & safety to all employees who need it, including full time staff, new starters and part time employees. Temporary or agency staff, contractors and other visitors should also be given the information they need to conduct their activities in a safe and healthy way. Apart from these legal responsibilities the time and effort spent on training can have benefits such as saving your business time and money and improving staff morale.

Module 1 - Health and Safety Basics:
What is health & safety?, responsibilities, law basics, health & safety policy.
Module 2 - Health and Safety Advantages:
Costs and benefits, a healthy safe workplace.
Module 3 - Health and Safety in Practice:
Workplace risk assessment, types of accidents, accident reporting and first aid.
Module 4 - Hazards, Accidents and Accident Prevention:
Most common hazards, types of accidents, prevention of accidents, controlling hazards, reducing risk.
Module 5 - H&S: Kitchen
Module 6 - H&S: Office/Reception
Module 7 - H&S: Housekeeping
Module 8 - H&S: Maintenance

There are no previous skills or qualifications required to register for this study programme. This course is open to students of all ages and backgrounds. Enrolments can be taken at anytime of the year unlike the traditional local college who tend only to enrol in September. Home Learning offers true flexibility. On passing the assessment, you can print your certification to show that the required standard of knowledge of Health and Safety has been reached. Course notes are also available upon completion.

Health and Safety course

The course takes approximately three and a half hours to complete and progress can be saved, enabling you to return to it later and start where you left off. You can access the course as many times as you like within a year.

This course is completed online within the college online learning portal. Access details and password are emailed direct to students within 2 Working days of enrolment. We use audio visual, interactive animation to deliver our courses in an enjoyable and refreshing format.

Please note that you will need speakers or headphones as it is an interactive audio-visual course.

This course has a multiple-choice assessment. The questions are randomly selected from a bank of questions. The assessment can be taken as many times as needed to pass. Once passed the trainee can instantly print their certificate proving succesful completion.

Course Notes

We have added an additional feature to our Food Safety, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Hazard Awareness courses whereby, after successfully completing the assessment at the end, you are able to download a full set of course notes. These can be saved to your computer or printed out. They contain the key points from the course content and are useful as a quick reference guide.

Management

For supervisors with multiple trainees we provide a management control panel. The control panel allows supervisors to add trainees, monitor their progress and print certificates.
