What is a private Investigator?

A private investigator or private detective (often shortened to PI or private eye) is a person who can be hired by individuals or groups to undertake investigatory law services. Private detectives/investigators often work for solicitors in civil cases. Many work for insurance to investigate suspicious claims. Before the advent of no-fault divorce, many private investigators were hired to search out evidence of adultery or other illegal conduct within marriage to establish grounds for a divorce. Despite the lack of legal necessity for such evidence in many jurisdictions, according to press reports collecting evidence of adultery or other "bad behaviour" by spouses and partners is still one of the most profitable activities investigators undertake, as the stakes being fought over now are child custody, alimony, or marital property disputes

There are no previous skills or qualifications required to register for this study programme. This course is open to students of all ages and backgrounds. Enrolments can be taken at anytime of the year unlike the traditional local college who tend only to enrol in September. All students have one year to complete this course from date of registration. Students are welcome to complete this course as quickly as they want to.

On average this course is completed in 110 hours (9/10 months).  Extensions can be arranged if students do not complete within the year and charges will apply. We would ask you to contact our office on 0800 0131030 for latest extension fees if required.

We recommend that students complete 3-4 hours per week as a minimum to get the most from this course. Remember to work out a study plan / timetable before you start and try and stick to it.

 

All students on this course will be registered to a personal tutor who is contactable via telephone, email or post. We also have a team of dedicated advisors to help and advise with any course related queries. The tutors role is to help and support students for the entire duration of their studies. This course is completed using continual assessment, allowing your tutor to closely monitor your progress every step of the way. Therefore no examination is required. This course consists of twenty eight lessons overall. Students will be required to submit assignments after each lesson via email or post proving their understanding of the subject covered. These assignments normally take between 1-2 hours to complete. A grade and report will be issued on your progress with any suggestions for improvement if necessary.

In addition to the traditional method of tutor support students on this course will be given access to a student community.
