Once you have completed the entire course you will have achieved all the learning outcomes.
Unit 1: Child and young person’s development This unit will begin to address learning outcome 1 (stated above). This learning outcome will be divided into a set of activities to guide your studies. In this unit you will explore the expected pattern of children and young people’s development from birth to 19 years and how the different areas of development can affect one another. Unit 2: The support of disabled children and young people and those with specific requirements This unit will focus on learning outcome 2 (stated above). This unit will be divided into a set of activities to guide your studies. In this unit you will research how you as a practitioner can support disabled children or young people and those with specific needs in partnership with their parents/carers. You will also research partnership working with other agencies and professionals. Unit 3: Supporting children and young people to achieve their learning potential This unit will focus on learning outcome 3 (stated above). This unit will be divided into a set of activities to guide your studies. In this unit you will learn how to support children and young people to ensure that they take every possible opportunity to make the most of learning and achieve their learning potential. Unit 4: Working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs. This unit will focus on learning outcomes 4 and 5 (stated above). This unit will be divided into a set of activities to guide your studies. In this unit you will research how practitioners can and should work with children and young people at the centre of their practice, basing their work on the strengths of the children and young people rather than focussing on their difficulties. You will explore the way in which behaviour, social and emotional difficulties are linked with speech, language and communication development and research effective ways to support the speech, language and communication development of children and young people with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties. There are no previous skills or qualifications required to register for this study programme. Level 3 Special Needs (SEN) Award The course has been designed to specifically meet the needs of learners who prefer to study at home or as a pathway course. NCFE accreditation gives assurance that the content is of a high standard and meets the rigorous requirements of a national awarding body. NCFE accreditation also gives formal recognition to our courses which result in the "award" of a certificate of achievement. All students have one year to complete this course from date of registration. Students are welcome to complete this course as quickly as they want to. This course is issued in online or paper format. (Choose your preferred method at checkout) Your course materials will be delivered to you at the specified address within 7 days of enrolment. International students should allow up to 21 days for delivery. Online access is normally arranged within 48 hours of making payment. All students on this course will be registered to a personal tutor who is contactable via telephone, email or post. We also have a team of dedicated advisors to help and advise with any course related queries. The tutors role is to help and support students for the entire duration of their studies. Please remember our tutors are here to help. Never be embarrassed to ask for help. This course is completed using continual assessment, allowing your tutor to closely monitor your progress every step of the way. Therefore no examination is required. This course consists of four lessons overall. Students will be required to submit assignments after each lesson via email or post proving their understanding of the subject covered. These assignments normally take between 1-2 hours to complete. A grade and report will be issued on your progress with any suggestions for improvement if necessary.
